Falling in Love with Photography in the City of Love

Capturing Love: How Paris Sparked My Passion for Photography

The upcoming Paris Olympics have rekindled my memories of a trip that changed my life forever. In 2015, I embarked on a journey to Paris with my first 'real' camera, a Canon EOS Rebel T5i. This trip not only marked the beginning of my photography career but also cemented my love for capturing the world through my lens. Let me take you on a trip down memory lane and share how Paris ignited my passion for photography.

The Spark of Passion

Fun fact: Paris was the first city I photographed with my new Canon EOS Rebel T5i. I was fortunate enough to have a local photographer guide me through the city, teaching me the best spots, angles, and settings for my camera. This hands-on experience was invaluable and set the foundation for my photography skills.

Paris lived up to its name, the city of love, as I completely fell in love with photography during my visit. The city's charm and beauty were captured in every shot, making me realize the endless possibilities of what I could achieve with a camera.

Exploring the Iconic Landmarks The Seine River

One of my favorite memories from the trip was capturing the stunning views of the Seine River. The serene beauty of the river, especially at sunset, was mesmerizing. The gentle ripples of the water reflecting the city's lights created a magical atmosphere that was a joy to photograph.

The Louvre Museum

Next, I ventured to the Louvre Museum. The sheer grandeur of the museum, with its intricate architecture and vast collection of art, was a creative's dream. I remember feeling overwhelmed with inspiration as I tried to capture the essence of the Louvre in my photos. Though it was impossible to capture every stunning detail, the challenge itself was exhilarating.

The Eiffel Tower

No trip to Paris is complete without photographing the Eiffel Tower. I spent hours trying to capture its beauty from different angles. One of my favorite attempts was a forced perspective photo, a fun and creative way to play with visual tricks. Back then, I didn't have fancy smartphone editing tools, so I relied on my camera and the patience of my model, who moved ever so slightly, over and over again until I got the perfect shot.

Notre Dame Cathedral

The last photo I want to share from my trip is my favorite: a picture of Notre Dame Cathedral. I feel incredibly lucky to have captured this iconic landmark before the fire that destroyed its spire. Learning photography in one of the most beautiful and historic places in the world was a deeply sentimental experience. This photo holds a special place in my heart, and I will cherish the memory of that moment forever.

Growth and Reflection

Reflecting on my trip to Paris, I'm filled with gratitude for the experiences that shaped my photography journey. The knowledge I gained from my local guide and the time spent exploring the city's landmarks laid the groundwork for my career. Each photo from that trip tells a story, capturing moments that hold significant personal meaning. Since then, my photography has evolved, with numerous projects deepening my love for the art. Paris remains special to me as the start of this journey, and I aim to revisit to see my growth—my own personal photographic Olympic games. Cheers to capturing more beautiful moments and sharing them with all of you!
